Hoje e dia 17 de Marco, dia de Sao Patricio! Sao Patricio e um santo muito querido na Irlanda e como tem muito decendente de Irlandes aqui nos EUA, e como Americano adora fazer festa no feriado dos outros, esse dia e super festejado aqui. Aqui em Sacramento tem a "parada do Sao Patricio" no centro, com carros alegoricos e tudo mais. A noite, todo mundo vai pros barzinhos irlandeses pra beber cerveja verde (cerveja normal com um corante). Muitos se vestem a caracter com aquela saia e tudo. Enfim.... Esse ano eu estava tao cansada que decidi nao ir para os barzinhos no centro.Fiquei em casa e festejei o dia do meu modo: tomando Baileys, um licor de chocolate irlandes!
Today is March 17th, St. Patrick's day. Apparently St. Patrick's day is a holiday of obligation for the catholic church in Ireland and since there are lots of people with Irish roots in the States (and because Americans love to party on holidays from other countries), it is a popular holiday over here. In Sacramento, they even have a St. Patrick's day parade in downtown with floats and everything. In the evening, people gather in the many Irish pubs throughout town to drink the popular Green Beer (beer with green food coloring). Many dress up in Irish kilt and play the back pipes. This year I was really tired and decided to skip the Pub crawl in downtown. Instead, I celebrated St. Patrick's like an "old" 25 year old: drinking Baileys Irish Cream! hmmmmm
